Sketchbook Cover

I based my sketchbook cover on the album cover for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon as created by George Hardie. George Hardie is one of the most famous album cover artists in rock music, having done multiple Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and other album covers. It is one of my favorite pieces of art, and I also felt it would be appropriate because it would be the beginning of my art "album cover", as well as Pink Floyd's. I did this by spraypainting the background black and then using pastels for the details.

Illustration Friday: "Paisley"

This is my work for "Paisley". At first, I didn't know what paisley meant, so I went and looked it up. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was that it resembled half of a yin yang symbol. I also decided to make it more intricate by placing more symbols inside of the dots of the larger ones, along with using opposite colors on all of them. I did this with markers.

Illustration Friday: "Ripple"

This is my work for "Ripple". I chose this because when I thought of ripple, I thought of a ripple of water after dropping a stone in a pond or a puddle. I did this with pastels and a number 2 pencil for shading.

I think this collage is a good representation of my relationships. First, this is because My family is central in my life, as in the collage. Yet, my friends are also of equal importance, as shown by the same sizing of the pictures. Finally, I grouped my friends and family into different groups, depending on the "social groups" that they are in. I thoroughly enjoyed putting this collage together, as it gave me a good overview of the social dynamics that rule my life.
